Review Process

Review Process

Remember the last time you were looking for information about an endurance product? Investigating products and ultimately deciding on the purchase of a product has a process which tends to be similar for each individual. Search the web, ask a specialty retailer, or solicit advice from training partners. Of course the higher ticket items and newer products tend to have more conduits for inquiry, but seemingly all purchases seemed to be under the advisement of people we’ve all come to trust within our training circles.

With so many products on the market though, how do you know if the advice is authentic. For instance, sales representatives will bring new products to a retailer and pitch those products as the latest and greatest things. Of course they say this. That’s what they’re paid to say. If the pitch works the transaction occurs and the rep moves on leaving the retailer with sometimes little true information to go on when shelving a new product. Also couple that with the questions, “Has this sales representative ever truly tried this product?” or “Are they an endurance athlete themselves?”

What makes EnduroBrand different?

EnduroBrand was created to blend the everyday running experiences testing products with the background of branding. This unique approach presents both an unbiased and true perspective on a product while presenting branding insight into the development of future products. Simply stated. Products are tested daily by a runner with more than two decades of experience training and competing at various levels. The brand development background stems over 13 years of experience in creating brands and product launches of various types for a range of clientele throughout the SouthEast.

Is EnduroBrand neutral?

Preservation of authenticity is the key to presenting valuable information to EnduroBrand visitors. Therefore none of the product reviews represented on this site were posted for direct financial gain. EnduroBrand is committed to taking an honest approach to reviewing products. Accepting commission for a review in exchange for a positive slant is out of the question.

What if a product is simply not good?

Let’s say that during the testing process a product performance doesn’t yield positive results. Now keep in mind that many adjustments are made throughout the review process to discover insight about the product. We realize everyone is different so adjustments are made to uncover the best advice possible. EnduroBrand is committed to simply not posting negative reviews. The purpose of EnduroBrand is to search out and find the best endurance products available.

Does EnduroBrand have a particular review process?

Each product is tested over a two week span which equates to 100 miles of running. On a granular level this means that products under-going the review process are used consistently for two straight weeks. Maintaining this time span allows us dive into the details or nuances of each product. Oh yeah, remember these products are being tested in training which translates to workout variety. One day the product supports a basic “easy run” while the next it’s through the jaws of an “interval” session. Let’s just say this is quite a holistic approach leaving no stone unturned.

How often are new reviews posted?

Currently we are reviewing one product at a time. At this frequency a new review will be posted to the site every two weeks. This could change in the future, but for now we believe it’s critical to get one product focused attention at a time. Attempting too many reviews at one time may produce a lot of reviews quickly, but could lead to watered down posts.

How are products selected for review?

Every season there are new products entering the market. Some from the established endurance brands and others start-up ventures who are complete newbies to the running community. Products for review on EnduroBrand are selected as we find new and interesting products. We may find them on the shelves of our local specialty stores, national and regional trade shows, race expos, or by simple introduction from a fellow endurance athlete. Each product reviewed on EnduroBrand is used during weekly run-commuting and race-training. The products we find work the best are the one’s we choose to write about. Call it a review in one voice, but know the purpose of our “reviews” is to expose and share the insight on products we find helpful to use while training.

What if our brand or product would like to solicit a review?

This is simple. You are welcome to introduce EnduroBrand to your brand or product by contacting us. Please keep in mind that the authenticity of this site is mission critical. Therefore we choose to personally purchase all products reviewed. This ensures the purity of process and dispels any misunderstanding associated with excepting free product in exchange for a guaranteed positive review.

If your product is a consumable (ie: gels, drink mixes, bars, etc.) and you’d like to send a couple samples to introduce a new product, you are welcome to send them. If we find the samples intriguing we’ll purchase a larger quantity of the product to conduct the review process.
